Out past Tyne and Wear a stove often stops being a feature and starts being a heat source. Plenty of rural Northumberland and Durham property has no mains gas, so a correctly sized appliance on a properly designed flue is doing real work through the winter rather than looking pleasant on a Sunday.
The building stock is older and heavier. Stone cottages with substantial chimney breasts, farmhouses with flues that were never meant for a modern appliance, and barn conversions with no stack at all. Twin wall comes up far more often out here than it does in town, and exposure means the route and the terminal need thinking about rather than defaulting.
Sunderland and Washington are more mixed. Terracing and postwar estates much like Tyne and Wear, so the approach there is closer to what we do closer to home.

Further than most of our competitors, but not everywhere. Sunderland, Washington, Durham, Chester-le-Street and southern Northumberland are all regular work. If you are further out, ring and ask. We would rather tell you honestly than turn up and let you down.
It can do a lot, provided it is sized to the room properly. Oversizing is the common mistake, because an oversized stove run low burns dirty and tars the flue. We work the sizing out at the survey rather than selling you the biggest one we stock.
Yes, and it is a large part of what we do out here. Converted property rarely has a usable stack, so it is a twin wall insulated system. On a conversion the route affects how it looks as much as how it draws, so it gets designed rather than guessed.
Yes. Height, prevailing wind and nearby trees or buildings all affect how a flue terminates and whether it will draw reliably. An exposed site sometimes needs the flue taking higher, or a particular terminal, and that comes out at the survey.
Yes. We can survey from clear photographs and Google Maps, which is often the sensible first step if you are further out. If the job goes ahead we still see the property properly before anything is installed.
