Stoves we have supplied and installed

Real jobs across Tyne and Wear and the North East. Every one surveyed, installed, commissioned and certified by our own engineers.

More than dropping a stove into a hole

A stove installation is a building job as much as an appliance job. These are the three parts of it that decide whether the finished stove actually works.

01

The building works

The chamber usually needs opening up to a suitable size, which means brickwork, a lintel where one is needed, and patch plastering around the new opening. We carry all of that out ourselves rather than leaving you to arrange a builder.

  • Opening up the chamber
  • Lintel where required
  • Patch plastering
02

The flue system

Every property needs the right flue behind the appliance. That might be a flexible liner down an existing stack, or a twin wall system where there is no chimney at all, along with the correct ventilation for the output.

  • Flexible liner or twin wall
  • Closure plate and cowl
  • Ventilation to suit the output
03

The appliance

Only once the chamber and the flue are right does the stove itself go in, along with the hearth and the beam. Getting the first two wrong is what makes a stove smoke, run cold or fail its commissioning.

  • Hearth cut and installed
  • Chamber and beam
  • Commissioned and certified

Stove installation across the North East

Based in Hebburn and working across Tyne and Wear, Durham and Northumberland. If you are not sure whether we reach you, just ask.

Before you book a survey

The things people ask us most often about having a stove supplied and installed.

Do I need a chimney to have a stove installed?

No. If your property has no chimney, or the stack is not serviceable, we install a twin wall flue system instead. The free survey tells you which route your property needs before you spend anything.

How long does a stove installation take?

Most installations are completed inside a single day. Occasionally two, where the chimney needs more opening up than expected. We work from dust sheets and everything is done by our own team rather than a subcontracted fitter.

Do you carry out the building works as well?

Yes. We open the chamber up to a suitable size, patch plaster around the new opening and install the hearth, chamber and beam. There is no separate builder to arrange and no gap between trades where things get missed.

Will I get a certificate?

Yes. We are HETAS registered, so we commission and test the stove on the day, issue a certificate of compliance, and notify the installation under Building Regulations. Keep the certificate safe, as your home insurer and any future buyer will ask for it.

How do I know what size stove I need?

That is what the survey is for. We size the appliance to the room rather than selling you the biggest one we can. An oversized stove run low is the single most common fault we are called out to correct, and it is worth getting right first time.

What is included in stove supply and installation?

The stove, building works to form the opening, patch plastering, the hearth, an oak beam, the flue liner, cowl and closure plate, a carbon monoxide alarm and notice plate, commissioning and a HETAS certificate. Any extras are listed openly and confirmed in writing after the survey.

Stove supply and installation, explained

What stove supply and installation actually includes, why it matters who does it, and how to compare quotes properly.

What stove supply and installation includes

When we quote for stove supply and installation, the price covers everything needed to go from an empty fireplace, or no fireplace at all, to a lit, certified stove. On a typical job with an existing chimney that means:

  • The stove itself, sized to the room
  • Building works to open the chamber to a suitable size, with a lintel where needed
  • Patch plastering around the new opening
  • A cut sandstone hearth, or riven slate as an upgrade
  • A light or dark oak beam above the opening
  • A flexible flue liner, cowl, closure plate and stove pipe
  • A carbon monoxide alarm and chimney notice plate
  • Commissioning, a HETAS certificate and Building Regulations notification

The only things that can add to the price are listed openly on our stove packages page, and each is confirmed in writing after the survey.

Why stove supply and installation from one company matters

Buying the stove in one place and paying someone else to fit it sounds cheaper, and occasionally it is. The catch is responsibility. If the stove smokes, is the appliance at fault, the liner, or the fitting? With separate suppliers each can point at the other.

With stove supply and installation from one team, there is one name on the certificate and one phone number to call. We chose the stove, sized it, built the opening, fitted the flue and signed it off, so if anything is not right, it is ours to put right.

Supply only, or supply and installation?

We do not sell stoves to take away and fit yourself. Installing a stove is notifiable building work, and an installation without a HETAS certificate or Building Control sign off causes problems with insurers and when you sell the house.

If you have already bought a stove, we can usually fit it, provided it is a current appliance with its paperwork and it suits the room. We look at it at the survey and tell you honestly if it is the wrong size. That is still a full installation, just without the supply part of stove supply and installation.

Comparing stove supply and installation quotes

Quotes vary widely, and the cheapest is often missing something. When you compare stove supply and installation prices, check each quote for these:

  • Is a flue liner included, and is it the right diameter for the stove?
  • Is the hearth included, and what is it made of?
  • Are the building works and making good included, or extra?
  • Is there a carbon monoxide alarm and notice plate?
  • Will you get a HETAS certificate, and will the council be notified?
  • Who will actually do the work: the company's own engineers, or a subcontractor?

A quote that leaves out the liner or the certificate is not a cheaper version of the same job. It is a different, lesser job.

How the price is built

Our stove supply and installation prices start at £2,199 fully installed where the chamber is already the right size and the chimney is serviceable. Where building works are needed, the package price covers them. Homes with no chimney need a twin wall flue, priced individually after the survey. Every price is fixed in writing before anything is booked, and the survey itself is free.

Stove supply and installation: the details that matter

The parts of the job that decide how well a stove works for the next twenty years.

Hearth, chamber and stove supply and installation detail

The building works

Most chimney breasts need opening up to suit a modern stove. We cut the opening to around 1000mm wide by 900mm high, depending on the breast and where the lintel sits, fit a lintel where the existing support is not adequate, and patch plaster around the new opening. The room is sheeted from the door to the fireplace, and the waste is bagged or, if you prefer, taken away for a listed extra charge.

The flue

The liner has to suit the appliance. Many Ecodesign stoves approved for smoke control areas can run on a 5 inch liner, while others need 6 inch, and the stove's installation manual decides. Getting this right is the single biggest factor in whether a stove draws well, which is why every stove supply and installation we carry out starts with the flue rather than the stove.

Where there is no chimney, a twin wall insulated system is built instead, through the house or up an outside wall. Our page on flue and chimney systems covers both routes in detail.

The hearth

A stove must stand on a non-combustible hearth that extends set distances in front of and to each side of the appliance, as required by Building Regulations. We supply and fit a cut sandstone hearth as standard, with riven slate as an upgrade. On suspended timber floors we check what is underneath before it goes down.

Commissioning and handover

Once everything is fitted we smoke test the flue, light the stove, check the draw and confirm the carbon monoxide alarm works. Then we show you how to light it, control it and refuel it, and leave you with the manuals and your HETAS certificate. You can check our registration on the HETAS register, and the GOV.UK smoke control rules explain what you can burn.

After stove supply and installation

Keep the first few fires small while the paint cures, burn wood under 20% moisture and have the chimney swept at least once a year. Rope, glass and baffles wear over time, and because we fit established brands the parts are easy to get. If anything needs looking at after your stove supply and installation, the same team that fitted it is the one that comes back.

Stove supply and installation: what to expect

How a job runs from first call to lit stove, and the situations that need a little more planning.

Lit stove after stove supply and installation by Simply Stoves NE

Where we carry out stove supply and installation

We are based in Hebburn and carry out stove supply and installation across Tyne and Wear, Wearside, County Durham and Northumberland. Our area pages cover the local detail for Hebburn, Gateshead, Newcastle, Sunderland and more, because the housing changes what a job involves.

From first call to lit stove

Stove supply and installation with us follows the same order every time. A free survey, in person or from photos. A fixed price in writing. A visit to the showroom if you want to see the stoves lit, which most people do. Then a booked installation day, usually a single day, with the stove lit and certified before we leave.

What you need to do

Very little. Clear the area in front of the fireplace and move anything fragile from the room. If there is a gas fire in the opening, tell us at the survey so the disconnection can be arranged. On the day, the only thing we need is access to the room and, where needed, to the loft or the roof.

Stove supply and installation for landlords

We fit stoves in rented property too. The same certificate and notification apply, and landlords should keep the HETAS certificate and arrange an annual sweep. A carbon monoxide alarm is fitted with every installation, which matters for rental compliance. If your tenants are at home on the day, we talk them through lighting and running the stove so they use it properly from the first evening, and we leave the manuals and certificate with the property. Keep a copy of the certificate with your tenancy paperwork too, alongside each year's sweep certificate, so everything is in one place if it is ever asked for.

Stove supply and installation in new builds and extensions

New houses and extensions rarely have a chimney, and they are built to be airtight, which affects the ventilation a stove needs. Both are solvable. A twin wall flue provides the chimney, and the survey checks the airtightness so the stove gets the air it needs without making the room draughty. If you are building an extension and want a stove in it, it is worth talking to us before the roof goes on, because the flue route is much easier to plan at that stage.

Why customers choose us for stove supply and installation

Thirty years in the region, our own HETAS registered engineers on every job, fixed prices in writing and a showroom where you can see the stoves lit. Most of our work comes from recommendations, and our reviews say more than we can. When you are ready, book a free survey and we will price your stove supply and installation in writing.
